I cant tell you how many times my Mom would tell us tales of getting coverless comic books from Windsor News (a practice formerly performed by retailers on unsold books. The covers were mailed back to the distributors for credit - and the books themselves were SUPPOSED to be destroyed. Often times, though, they werent). :) In fact, remember when comic books were EVERYWHERE and read by EVERYONE?! I sure do! What were your favorite titles?!? Speaking of comics, did you know Windsor has its own world class comic book publisher right on Ottawa Street that regularly visits schools and book clubs promoting literacy through comics?!?
