I decided to keep a sightings log this year and kept up with it pretty well (I think). I went Whale Watching on 13 different days for a total of 23 trips. I went on 9 different road trips, most of which were day trips. I only made it to the Census four times. I saw 11 different cetacean species (some are estimates of course): 56 Gray Whales (most from shore), 3 Blue Whales, 62 Humpback Whales (lots of excellent behaviors!), 14 Fin Whales, 11 Minke Whales, 8 Orca (from shore - CA51s, all), 7700 Common Dolphin, 288 Bottlenose Dolphin, 1 Pacific White Sided Dolphin, 130 Rissos Dolphin, 24 Harbor Porpoise (difficult to count and very shy but I think at least a couple dozen). I saw many thousands of Elephant Seals including two births, lots of Harbor Seals and Sea Lions and a fair amount of Sea Otters. I saw at least 14 different Condors on three different occasions (12 confirmed IDs). I also saw (but did not log) a couple Velella velella, a Puffer Fish, Mola Mola and a shark or two. Next year I think I need to do better ;)
