I did not check out the article myself, but this seems about right. I never had a blanket on my horse in MT. Didnt even own one. But I also didnt work her very much in the Winter. It is so damp here that they dont always dry if they sweat. This breeds skin problems. Therefore, we use lights and clipping to minimize or get rid of coat growth. We also keep them in stalls, limiting their options to move to keep warm. It is definitely human-centric, but necessary. I found the optimal horse temperature very interesting, though!
