I dont advocate vegetarianism as the healthiest human diet - TopicsExpress

I dont advocate vegetarianism as the healthiest human diet (generally.) But the condition of mass produced animals for slaughter is horrendous and, in my opinion, inexcusable. And the fact is, there arent enough resources for all the people who currently eat meat and fish, or who aspire to do so, to get the currently eaten quantity from natural, healthy sources. Two things we can do are 1. Eat less meat/fish, especially if youre in the high-consuming quintiles and 2. Demand better animal conditions from food producers. Supply and demand works and if the whole US went vegetarian for a day in protest of torturous animal conditions, and threatened to continue to do so, circumstances would change. In a heartbeat. I know there is a natural order to things, and humans are high on the food chain. But causing the amount of animal suffering we do is optional. We can choose not to accept it as part of business as usual. What do you think?
