I entrusted my good friend Doug St-Laurent with three pieces for the Voyageart Mission to Oregon (this is what he wrote): Thursday August 28 : Like the Lewis & Clark expedition, I’m following the mighty Columbia River towards the Pacific Ocean to set free this piece. I stopped a few miles short from the ocean to explore the beautiful town of Astoria, first settlement on the Pacific Coast. I came across an old cannery on Pier 39 which had be converted. Inside, I found Coffee Girl Coffee, a beautiful cafe overlooking the river. I heard Arcade Fire play as I was choosing from the menu. I also noticed that artist had listened to Arcade Fire when he made this piece. It was a sign!!! The “lighthouse” would fit perfectly with the arts on the wall of this out of the way cafe. The ideal place for a lighthouse to look over the boats on the river and a lost traveler to find it. Movie trivia fact: The Goonies, Short Circuit, Kindergarden Cop, Free Willy and many other were filmed here. Here are some pictures of the immediate surroundings where the art was lost.
