I finally watch 20 Feet from Stardom starring a few friends and a TON of people i relate to so closely. IDK whether to feel sad and hopeless or to just fight harder, but I can say that its obvious why this movie won the oscar this year. It pulled on all of my heart strings. It illustrated for me the lives of those who came and fought before me in this industry as a backup singer who craves for her own art to be the main attraction. Even those who are out there fighting along side me now. It truly is a gamble to proceed on this path. And it didnt turn out so well for some. We continue to risk it all. It was beautiful and inspiring, and a little depressing and disheartening. I think of the MANY AMAZING vocalists I have come accross over the years. And I look back on my own journey and realize just how long this road has been. I look at where I am now and I know there are thousands who long to be here. And yet I still catch myself longing to be there still trying to make it. But I already made it! This is it. If youre not satisfied with life, you are lucky enough to have the chance to change it.
