I get the hype about 5E, seeing how Pathfinder had over taken it and for the first time D&D wasnt the worlds most popular RPG and WotC needed to act if they wanted to keep the top spot... I just want to know WHY Pathfinder became so popular. If it was because people didnt like 4E then people could have stuck with 3 and 3.5, right? I know some people might feel a compulsion to go out and buy the latest version of a game they love but if they didnt like it they could stick with the books they already had, right? If you spend hundreds on the D&D book set then do so again on the next book set... So why go out and pay for a third set from a competing company when you can simply revert to the rules you preferred?
