I got a BIG surprise when I went to pick up RJ for two important appointments yesterday. We were set for an eye exam to see what was causing his recent blindness, and I had a secret for him. I had set up a meeting with a local group who was going to assess him for assisted living in a safe environment. His neighbor came out to tell me RJ was gone! He had left for Phoenix earlier that morning, to go live with his brother. Since he had no phone, I hadnt spoken with him since Friday, when I had taken him food. I thought about stopping by over the weekend to check in, but got busy and let it pass. He told his friend, that his brother was going to get him into an assisted living place out there. Im praying he will be well taken care of. I hate that I wasnt able to say goodbye to my friend, but that is ok, as long as he is safe and secure. Please know that he was SO grateful to those of you who donated money to help him through the past month. He repeatedly told me that all of you must be angels, sent by God to help him! I didnt know him long, but he honestly did enrich my life.
