I got a wiring kit tonight as a Christmas gift. I have never really used anything like this before, but after I had learned the wiring part I was able to use my programming knowledge to make a metronome. Sorry about the bad audio. It works by taking the knob (the white thing that I turn) and converting the rotation into a value between 60 and 160. That number is the beats per minute. I divide 30 seconds by the BPM which calculates the speed at which the light needs change, and the speaker needs to make a noise, in order to to give a tempo with 8th notes. The easy way to say it, the knob makes the light and sound go faster.
