I had an interview today with a local newspaper about disruptive technologies (Concertninja.me is about to share an article with Uber, yahoo!) and the question was asked whether Waterloo benefits from disruptive innovation entering the city. In my opinion, if an industry can be disrupted its ultimately out dated and inefficient. The resulting systems, tools, and functions that come out the other side will be tested in the market and the value proven by the consumers who take the chance to love or hate them. If enough lives are improved, then it will sustain. If not, then it wont. The awesome thing about this city is that people get that and they go to battle everyday trying to make every detail and experience better in their product. Its been a blast getting to know the amazing minds that have set out on their own ambitious journeys here. Youre all brilliant and this city is badass.
