I had no idea what to expect when I went to WOWs October meeting - TopicsExpress

I had no idea what to expect when I went to WOWs October meeting yesterday, Women On Fire, I hadnt experienced the Women On Fire either...creative and inspired women performers whos love and generosity of spirit enfold the room. So when they asked for audience participation, it was a surprise...and I took advantage of it in the moment. Shot my hand up when the invitation to share came along although I had no prior knowledge of what would be expected or required. After all, she who risks little gains nothing in my experience; there are positive risks and negative risks and it was easy to discern the positivity in the room. So I shared a poem (actually a song too) that came to me during a retreat years ago since Maya continues to inspire us still and oh, how I felt her spirit in the room! Calling to Eve, our first mother , ancestor to us all...a black woman in Africa.... I shared this and share it with you all since poems and songs become sad and die if not shared:- Sacred Womans Flower, Waxing mystic Moon, Shine your silver light upon the scarlet petals of my Womb. Let the drumbeat sound and our feet feel Earth; Let the Maiden sing to the freedom of her birth. Let the Mother dance and the Crone keep tune To the ancient songs of the magic rhythms of the Moon. In the silent hour of the darkest Moon, Sister Find your power in the secrets hidden in your Womb. Grief and love and yearning and healing and joy were all expressed in and through me and once again, in the safety of such a gathering women and a man and his sons came together for this event. On a simple level I was so grateful that it was in an afternoon because it is just about the only window of opportunity for me these days...health challenges reducing my options to participate as I would want to. The venue was accessible and there were chairs with backs and arms that made it possible for me to sit without excessive pain. Then tea and cake after...all served by the Women On Fire...... felt like being totally hugged and affirmed.....Ah Maya...your body is gone but you live on with and among us :D
