I has a great lunch meeting today with my friend Kim Latinik- Ayers. Kim is the founder and CEO of Spark540, a non-profit service organization with the goal of bringing global awareness & leadership opportunities to teenagers. Sparks current campaign is focused on the United Nations Millennium Development Goal #2, which is to Achieve Universal Primary Education. Kim and Spark have done some great work at the Fontaine School in Guediawaye, Senegal (Senegal is a Franocphone country). We discussed some ways of connecting my French students at Brookwood with the Spark teens and the students at the Fontaine School. If you know me at all you might have guessed I am already working with Kim to join the Spark group on one of their trips to Senegal. It looks like December 2014 is a likely possibility.
