I have a little something to say about the kids today and school. I remember when I was six (6) years old and started school. In the first grade. We ALWAYS started school on the Tuesday following Labor Day. That would be in September. And we ALWAYS got out of school for the summer following the Memorial Day Holiday. We didnt get two weeks off for Christmas, or spring break or fall break. It wasnt required that the teachers have so many days per year. Now it is Aug. 7 and our kids in Warrick County start back to school on Mon the 11th. And some other counties are already back.And some of those kids didnt get out until June. I really think we have taken our kids childhood away. They have no time to be kids. My kindergarten grandson is reading on an almost third grade level. Yes I am proud of him. I am proud of all my kids, grandkids and great grandkids. I just think they should be allowed to be kids. To play with dolls. To play with trucks. Yeah I am old. I been on this earth 75 years. I am not stupid. I have four sisters. Everyone of us did well in life. None of us went to college. We had chores after school AFTER we did our homework and then we could go play until supper. I just think we are making our kids grow up way to fast. Just sayin.
