I have a question and I am looking to see if anyone shares my opinion. This weekend was the Annual Columbus day parade with the Italian Festival. Michele Was-Heres my dilemma, The Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Committee, Inc., had a cash raffle 50/50, for winnings possibly up to $20,000.00 obviously depending on what they brought in. 8000 tickets were the max to be sold. On the ticket it stated that the Drawing would be Sunday Oct 12, at 8:30pm. My Husband and I decided we would walk over there to see the winning ticket when it was drawn at 8:30 this evening and nearly every stand was packed to go. When we asked the woman who was at the stand for this raffle when they were going to announce the winner, she told me They were waiting for Him, whoever Him was I havent a clue. There was still 10 minutes until 8:30 so we walked the rest of the festival, and when we returned, there was A HIM there, but they themselves were finalizing their closing of the tent and were packing it in. Is it me, is this wrong, or even legal. They took everyones $5.00 donation for each ticket, with no intentions of having the drawing at 8:30 knowing no one would be there at that time, which no one was except us. I would also like to point out no where on the ticket does it even state Winner need not be Present, it said nothing but 8:30 the drawing was to take place. I do not want to accuse them of fraud, but I cant help but think some thing is not right due to the fact that you have no way of knowing who won.
