I have a question for those who have taken sides in this Israeli- Palestinian crisis. I just wish my readers would understand that as a humanist I recognise the sanctity of life, and I also believe in the inherent goodness in humans. It was why I was pissed off to watch Ban Ki-moon addressing the world on the Chibok Girls kidnap, which I feel is the responsibility of a national government, while remaining deadly silent in the face of a macabre deluge playing itself out in Palestine. I feel his silence is an act of connivance. I got a lot of stick for my opinion the other day, but it will not stop me from stating it again. I believe the UN was set up primarily for occasions like this and a failure to take any concrete action seems to magnify its failure. Russia did not do as much destruction as Israel before sanctions were imposed against her. Now my question is: what would you have done if you were an Israeli living in Israel?
