I have a really good news, our planetarium has just received two great telescopes. One 8inch Celestron Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope on a alt-azimuth fork mount. The telescope is a goto telescope. The accessories include a white light solar filter, a planetary camera, power tank for field usage. This telescope is primarily for visual use. The second one is a humongous 14inch telescope, the very latest Edge HD telescope from Celestron. The mount is a German Equatorial - CGE Pro with complete goto and automation. The accessories included are a Nightscape CCD camera, full aperture Sun filter as well as a power tank. There are several eyepieces including a 23mm 82° wide field eyepiece. I was privileged to assemble the two superb telescopes today at the planetarium as an initial stock checking and verifying the workings of the telescope. Here is a time lapse video from earlier today. See the video here: https://youtube/watch?v=PUOSeKrDz4o I am sure AAAD members will play a very constructive role in the telescopes usage in the coming years. The planetarium envisages the same too. We are planning the first light ceremony of the two telescopes on Sunday 15th April at the evening observation from the Teen Murti Premises. The actual plan for the evening will be announced in a few days. All members are requested mark the event on their calendars and keep themselves free for the day.
