I have been called to do a lot of crazy things on service calls - TopicsExpress

I have been called to do a lot of crazy things on service calls before. But I got this one, one time that was to go fix a surgical light while the Doctor was performing open heart surgery .The light kept drifting and all of his assistants had been taking turns holding it steady and they were all wore out after two hours of this. They said they were looking at several more hours and needed it fixed now. I got there and by the time they got me dressed, you could not tell me from the doctor with the mask, hat, shoes on. Until I strap on my tool belt , I was a doctor with a tool belt on. I walked into the surgery room and there laid this poor soul with his or hers chest wide open and I swear the doc had his arm up to his elbow inside of them. I stood my ladder next to them and began to climb, I prayed dear God please do not let me drop anything on them. On a good day, I have drop three screws into a big four foot bowl of chili that the chef was cooking at a restaurant . He called the manger over and he decided it would be OK they never get to the bottom anyway. Just stir it until the screws settle to the bottom. I was nervous and asked God to steady my hands as I tighten the set screws on each elbow of the lights arm, this would stop it from drifting. To make matters worse ,the patient would grunt and groan from time to time. But I focus on what I was doing and completed the job and climb down very slowly . I got a small applause from the assistants and a big thank you. I headed out the nearest double doors that I saw and went through the doors ripping off the mask and saying thank God thats over with. Then I looked around me and I was in the waiting room where all of these people with shocked looks on their faces. Their mouths half open, staring at me and then I realize these where the patients family and I was dress like the Doctor.( with a tool belt on) I didnt know what to say or should I say anything at all. I just exit the building. As I look back at this, The Doctor with all his skills and all of his assistants, could not do anything about the light. They tried and couldnt stop it from drifting and got tired doing so. So they called me in, to tighten the little screws on the elbows, anyone could have done it, no real skills needed. But I had the tool, they didnt have. We cannot all be preachers, teachers, missionary . But we can take, what God has giving us and no matter how small our part may be. We just do our part so that others can do theirs and together we can reach the world.
