I have been fascinated with Detroit for some time. Having my truly other half of my immediate family living in Michigan.Long story short the other part of the Cristianos. I somehow imagined/dreamed of moving there. Even applied to The Skillman Foundation thinking for certain this was it. Never heard back after my first interview. This article is compelling. It awakes that wonder in me about the possibilities for me to contribute my skills, my lifes purpose, my belief in empowering people through meaningful connections in education for career placement. Never mind this readiness notion, people need a job to support themselves and their loved ones. People are in desperate need for work for living wages more there than anywhere I have read about in the US. Hence my years of fascination and now study on Detroit. . Thank you Terry Wright for finding this fascinating article to read. Im going to definitely add it to my Detroit Folder. It truly awakens my appreciation for the people living and working there. Such amazing history in this city and it deserves our attention.
