I have been following several GIV events including the accident in Bedford Mass. Given the fact that the gust lock was supposedly engaged which restricts the movement of not only the flight controls but also the thrust levers, it is interesting that the flight crew was able to attain sufficient thrust to accelerate to a takeoff speed. Also it is curious what may have led the flight crew to attempt to salvage a bad situation during the takeoff roll rather than abort. If I was investigating the event, I know the gust lock system design and aircraft certification would be high on the list of investigative activities. It will be interesting to see what the FAA and NTSB find regarding this subject area.
