I have been friends with Jameel Parker since I moved to Boston in 2001. He is one of the most interesting people I have ever met. He has a grace and poise that I always envied (and still do). When we met he had been an art teacher at Latin-Rindge High School for 10 some years and he was teaching an art portfolio class for disadvantaged Boston teens that the foundation that I was running was funding. Jameel developed ALS 4.5 years ago (at the time they gave him, at best, 3 years to live) and with the Ice Bucket Challenge so current I thought I would share a few videos that he has made. Its one thing to hear about people with ALS; its also good to meet a single person with it. This video was made about six months during a trip that he made to Haiti to do a mural project before he found out that he had this disorder.
