I have been getting a lot of questions lately asking if I take PayPal. The short answer is no, I use Nochex Online Payment Services and there is a very good reason why I do. When I first started making my pens commercially I had a PayPal account. Things were fine until I had a large order from the USA which was paid by AMEX via PayPal. Fortunately I took the funds out of the PayPAl account as soon as they arrived as shortly after and without explanation my PayPal account was suspended. I tried contacting PayPal but it was nigh impossible. Their complaint procedure was nothing but a maze of automated emails and when I did eventually get a phone number there was more of the same with an automated voice telling me what I had obviously done wrong and how to correct it. I only found out what was wrong when the buyer contacted me after he had been contacted by AMEX. It seemed that AMEX blocked the payment as on the receipt from PayPal my business address was shown as being in California and one which on Googling was found to be linked with various PayPal scams. Thinking that their customer had been scammed AMEX quite rightly blocked the payment. It took over three months to rectify that problem with PayPal. A problem which was caused solely by their mismanagement of my account. I had no apology simply an email telling me that my account had been re instated and that they hoped I would not transgress again!! Having been suspended from PayPal I set up an account with Nochex. Since then there have only been small problems which have been sorted immediately by being able to contact human beings at Nochex and not some chain of automated emails and call handlers. Nochex are efficient at their transactions and they have saved me from being scammed on more than one occasion. On top of it they are a friendly bunch of people who are more than happy to help out. My account with them is such that I can take VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX and any other major credit cards available around the world. There are totally secure and all card details are processed on their site and over secure servers using industry standard 3D protocols. You dont need to open an account with them to use their services and it doesnt cost you any extra. So, if there is anyone out there wondering if I will go back to PayPal in order to process their payment the answer is a resounding NO!
