I have been thinking about some profound words to say to honor - TopicsExpress

I have been thinking about some profound words to say to honor Veterans Day for the majority of today. Im not sure there are words that can summarize what this day means to our country. The day started with going to Emilys school and seeing how the elementary age children themselves put together an entire assembly. These children went through each war/conflict and invited vets from that era to come up and introduce themselves. I was overwhelmed with the amount of respect the young people have for our vets. Then I think about my family that served and instilled the pride of service and country into each one of us. Harold Starkey, Bud Starkey, Bryan Starkey, Charles Starkey and Dick Kent made my decision to serve very easy and to carry on the family traditions. Then you have those that I served with. These life long relationships are just that Life long. For the sake of not writing a novel I guess what I am getting at is Ive come to a realization. A veteran be it war time or peace time appreciates this day and it really means a lot to each one of us. To those who served and are currently serving thank you, to those I served with it was an honor and thank you for making my time enjoyable, and to those who may serve may your decision be as easy as mine was and may you do it for all the right reasons. My dad always says every day is Veterans Day and he is right. I hope each person that takes the time to read this sets aside a few seconds everyday to think, and maybe offer a prayer for all Vets. Im going to try to do the same.
