I have child in my EI caseload with a severe food aversion. She has an NG-tube, and will only accept stage 2 Baby food and water. When presented with other textures/flavors she will immediately gag and/or expel the food from her mouth. Her recent swallow study was unremarkable, and she was cleared for PO intake. I submitted a request for OT eval to determine sensory integration component- still waiting. Within the past week, she has completely refused all food by mouth. She becomes very anxious and tantrums whenever food is near her. Weve tried chew tubes, reinforcers, behavior modification, incorporating food into play....even using TV and music as a distraction. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?
