I have realized tonight that I have some amazing folks that have come into my life in the past year or so...some even longer than that, others not so long as a year. Today, I was honored to be able to meet my buddy Pirate Bob at the fair and watch him ride the rides. Thanks to Robbie with Amusements of America (the carnival company that is at the fairgrounds for the fair), Pirate Bob and his twin brother Johnny and their parents were able to get in to the fair and ride some rides before the crowd got there. Pirate Bob is one of the students at CHE and he is battling cancer. He as been out of school for a while. When Robbie heard the story, he was excited to allow this very special young boy to come early to ride before the crowds came in. He allowed Bobby and Johnny and my son Matt to play a game and they ALL won, took choice in the game. Robbie got the boys snocones from one of his booths. He was very concerned that Bobby was able to ride all the rides he wanted and was able. As the owner, he even operated a ride or two himself. After, I was able to meet Carrie Bell for the first time face to face as she is visiting from London England. She has never seen a fair so came out with her friends to see what the hoopla is all about. Carrie had the pig that won the pig race and has a ribbon to take back to London with her. She had on the most amazing necklace! Carrie, we need a pic of that!!! please. She brought me some sweets from across the pond and met several of the folks behind the scenes at the fair. Thankfully my dad and my son were able to shuttle us around...both Pirate Bob and Carrie. I am amazed by the wonderful folks I know and love. Even though today was not a good day and I hurt like hell, it was worth it to see these beautiful folks have such joy at the fair.
