I have this crazy, possibly even stupid, theory built on the shoulders of another crazy, possibly stupid, theory. There is a theory that human beings are monkey DNA that has been spliced or otherwise modified by aliens, which explains our rapid evolution compared to other species (and why there are still monkeys around). Louis CK famously joked that we must be aliens because we arent comfortable on this planet at all. Anyhow, heres my dumb theory So, human beings can survive in extreme heat, as long as they can get food and water. They create shelter, and even though they arent comfortable, they can survive. The climate that we CAN NOT survive in are harsh, cold climates. Heck, were it not for our fancy clothes, Portlanders would be dropping like flies, and its not even that cold out. If global warming goes forward, then the arctic climates will melt and be more temperate, and the arid belt will increase. What if global warming is a complex, fully subconscious internally programmed terra-forming project whereas we make the planet more hospitable for our alien great-grandparents? Note: this is based on nearly NO scientific information, and remember that I started this by saying it was crazy and stupid. This is just what my brain does when it gets distracted.
