I havent done much research into my family history in recent - TopicsExpress

I havent done much research into my family history in recent years, but I did once, and Id be willing to do so again. Genealogy can be rather fascinating. It appears that my ancestors are mostly rooted in both the British Isles and Germany, with some from other spots in western Europe, and that most of my family tree immigrated to these United States before the American Revolution, which means that my roots run very deep in America. My dads fathers ancestors were mostly German Baptists (or Dunkers) who were very strictly opposed to taking oaths, as well as to any sort of violence, for which reason they preferred to die rather than to defend either themselves or anyone else. They initially fled religious persecution in Germany to settle in Pennsylvania---but, because some of their American neighbors didnt take kindly to their refusal to participate in the American Revolution, they migrated into Virginias Shenandoah Valley to help settle it, where they established the pacifistic Church of the Brethren, in which many served in ecclesiastical positions. My moms ancestors were not pacifistic preachers but violent warriors, by contrast, who fought in various colonial militias, as well as in most American wars. Which perhaps helps to explain some of my own characteristics as an exceptionally-nonviolent religiously-devoted man with a passion for rightful liberty under Constitutional law who preaches more to politically-involved folks than to anyone else. If you havent researched your own family history but would like to start doing so, then I hope that you will do so. My Church helps people with such research through FamilySearch, which has slowly expanded from the Genealogical Society of Utah into our worlds largest genealogical organization, with a Family History Library in Salt Lake City, 4,500 nonprofit family history centers in 70 nations, and one of the most heavily-used genealogical websites on the Internet. Id highly recommend using its resources to help seek out your ancestors.
