I just got this from my Consumer Report subscription: Thanks to a wave of opposition, the FCC just delayed for a second time its process for deciding Comcast’s takeover of Time Warner Cable. Sorry, Comcast lobbyists! We can use the extra time to make sure the five FCC Commissioners deciding this merger hear exactly what Americans like you think. The FCC can stop this merger. Tell the Commissioners exactly what you think. If Comcast is allowed to merge, it will control almost 60 percent of the nation’s cable TV customers, and nearly half of the high-speed Internet market. Who among us thinks that will end up in our favor? Cable rates already increase at nearly three times the rate of inflation. Just imagine the price hikes if this goes through. And now Comcast will have the leverage to demand higher fees from other companies, driving up their prices too.
