I just sent this letter to my local MP: Dear David Mowat, I am writing with reference to the genocide of Christians and other minority groups in Iraq at the hands of ISIS. With all the important coverage of what has been happening between Israel and Gaza, it seems like the widespread eviction, crucifixion, decapitation, rape, mutilation and murder of entire communities within Iraq has been overlooked. Today we heard the welcome news that the US is prepared to act, offering humanitarian aid to the similarly persecuted Yazidi sect. This is welcome. But there are two problems 1) this has been going on like this among the Christian community in Iraq on a much larger scale and for longer and yet their plight has been ignored and 2) the British Government doesnt appear to be doing anything at all. This is ethnic cleansing. This is genocide. Please call it what it is. Please act. All of this leads to one question: what are you going to do?
