I just watched a little video on here with a cat whos very best friend was a duck. Well, let me tell you a little story. Several years ago my friend Paschen came home totin a tiny weenie dog puppy. He was skinny and little but she loved him and took the very best care of the little orphan fella. She kept him in a small crate on the dining room table when he wasnt with her and every couple hours she would take him out to the front yard to do his business. We called him Bean. Just about that same time I had two female Muskovy ducks that I started worrying about cause I was sure they needed company. I was at the local tractor store one day and noticed they had a tiny little yellow duck with giant feet! Oh yes! A male Muskovy! Just what the doctor ordered. I scooped up that little fella and took him home to join the frey. Our initial days with Basil were difficult. He escaped. Crossed the highway and got stuck under the blackberry brambles. A snake tried to eat him...whole! I fixed that with a rake! Basil was proving to be a hard keeper and I more then once thought about taking him back. Then it happened! It was a accident at first and we thought great horrors would come from it but no....Basil and Beaner got a load of one another! It was love! They were just about the same size, both babies, both full of the devil, both wanting to wrestle and play! Problem being one was a duck...one was a pup. Paschen and I would sit on the porch and watch the pup and duck reunion every morning! They would chase and run and snap and bite and knock each other into tomorrow! That fluffly little yellow duck would niggle that puppy with his bill and that puppy would grab that duck by the neck and fling! It got so every morning when Paschen would take Bean out Basil would be standing at the door waiting for his buddy. The happiness on the two of them when they first saw each other in the morning was so cool! They didnt care about the species thing...they were two little boys wanting to play! And Man, did they play! Watching those two knock around and fuss at each other was one of the coolest things...always brings a big ole grin. Have a goodin yall.
