I know what yall are thinking!! :D Akhhhhh!! Who does this guy think he is that expects me to read all this crap!! Can you count knowledge? Is it useful to invent a measure for knowledge? Do you know How much knowledge you have about a given subject? How can you explain this amount? .. Ahaha I see that you are already reading through :D OK. keep on. Do you know any useful rule of thumb about this? At least not as far as I know. But generally I see three levels of knowledge about any given subject. Do you want me to explain it with a well-known example? I say there are three levels: how much your physician knows about cancer, how much a cancer patient knows about cancer, and how much you (and literally everybody else) knows about cancer. What we ordinary people know about cancer is merely information. Little or much, how much can you do with that knowledge? Technically we dont even call it knowledge because knowledge forms by linking pieces of information together. Do we know how to use that information and create know-how? and do we know how to find a winning solution to overcome cancer once confronted? A cancer patient knows much more. He knows enough about roots and causes of cancer. Its symptoms and remedies. He recognizes the symptoms as he faces them. And he is able to link them to the information that he already knows and make decisions. He can actively take care of his vital signals. The chances of his success over cancer depends on how much prepared he is. However, one thing is certain. He cannot overcome cancer by himself and more often than not, he needs to call for help. A specialist physician by profession has to spend a lot of time with patients. He spends a fat chunk of his life preparing, and learning about what cancer is, and experiment how to overcome it. The goal of his everyday routine is to #focus on overcoming the problem (i.e. cancer). He has a third level of knowledge. He is who will find a solution for this problem and help others. Now, remember that cancer is just an example. We were looking to find a useful parsing rule of thumb for an uncountable concept like knowledge. You can draw a simple table on paper and think about your knowledge in different areas. write down that knowledge under the proper level: 1. public 2. cancer patient 3. specialist How many skills and knowledge areas do you have under number three? under number two? under number one? Do the numbers match your personal perception of yourself? Which areas were the biggest surprises for you? On the table that you just drew, Find those areas in which people usually refer to you for advice. Are they classified where they belong to? under number three? or not? Where have you classified the main areas of your life? Those important areas for your personal well being and success? I hope they are not under number one because then you spend rough days hommies!! And the last one: Choose three areas from number one category that you would like to improve on and take to number two!! Have a good day. Viktors Thumb
