I look at all our neighbour countries, with similiar geo/social/economy/colonial background. Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Timor Leste, Myanmar, Laos, etc. Less Singapore. There must be something that Barisan Nasional done so evil-ly wrong in the past 57 years, that we didnt end up being as progressive as Singapore, UK, USA, South Korea, Japan, Australia, France, etc. But there must also be something this Barisan Nasional done SO differently, rightly or correctly, that we are so far ahead of Thailand, INdonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Timor, Myanmar, Laos, all our neighbours that shares our sea/land/air border. Many Malaysians can point out the evil-ly wrong that Barisan Nasional did in the past 57 years, that Malaysia didnt end up as progressive as Singapore,UK, South Korea, Japan, AUstralia, France etc, at ease. They do so on daily basis, in coffee shop, in facebook, social media. They might have a point, and what they say might be true. But how many among us, can actually point out the We must have done something right, correct part that dramatically distinguished us from Most of our Bordering Neighbours, that their economical wealth, standard of living in general, is far behind us, despite their higher Cost of living, and fact that the geo/socio/economical/colonial background are quite similiar compared to other none ASEAN countries. Before you proceed to cite me anecdote of your indonesian or bangkok outliner friend who live off a better standard of living than us, look at these country as a whole. with facts and figures. discount your anecdotal citation to avoid chicken and egg comparisons. So Question, what had this evil Barisan Nasional done in the past 57 that we didnt have to pay RM3/4 litre for RON 95, we didnt have to endure 3 times property prices in Bangkok, Jakarta, and Manila compared to Kuala LUmpur, we have almost 50-100% more GNP per Capita income compared to most of our neighbour less Brunei and Singapore, We have almost less than 5% hardcore poverty in Malaysia, compared to the double digits in Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, our land/sea bordering neighbour etc? There must be something right, right?
