I love seeing old straight men being nice to young gay men. That NEVER happened in my youth. The times have changed so much. Or my worlds. Thank you straight men for becoming so so much nicer than I ever remembered. In all of the LGBT civil rights posts, I never see straight people being thanked. I THANK all straight people for being kind and accepting, but we all know that it was harder for the men than the women. Women have always loved gay men for the fashion advice and the shoes. They may not have ever said it, but we knew. The BITTERSWEET pat of it is that I start crying when I think about black/Africian-American civil rights-- I see deep parallels- they had the public suffering, we had the silent- and yes I think that they had it worse because skin is a huger base for judgment. Joyce, I love you. I love you when I think how much you have suffered. Yeah, I have a bunch of black friends, but no one has suffered as much as Joyce- and she went BACK to the town that hurt her the most- to fix it. Im crying as I type this. I was there, at her house- and I simply cant believe that she went back. I love you so much Joyce.
