I may be criticised for writing this post, but I feel it is an important question. Why isnt the Dalai Lama, Aung San Suu Kyi, David Suzuki, Ban Ki-moon, Sebastiao Salgado, Sir David Attenborough and other known humanitarians, political activists and environmentalist around the world, Vegans or at least vegetarians? Those people are great inspirations to the world and me, and dont get me wrong, I dont dislike them or anyone by any means. But I just think their messages regarding compassion, non-violence, climate change, animal extinction, and preservation of the natural habitat would be that bit more poignant and meaningful if they didnt contribute to the leading causes of that themselves three times a day... Especially as they are seen as the cultural icons of that movement. Call me crazy, but I think its an important question. I absolutely love the Dalai Lamas teachings and how he is spreading his message of compassion and nonviolence around the world, its incredible, but he is well known to enjoy eating Veal... I mean Holy Cow! I thought we were all sentient beings deserving of life, respect and happiness?...
