I need a suggestion here. I had a BSNL broadband, where my Lappy is connected to the BB modem with a CAT 5 cable. I am surrendering my BB connection in favor of Alliance Broadband. They did not provide me any Modem, but a direct CAT 5 cable connection from there main control room (Switch center) and has placed a hub on my roof top (55ft from my laptop) which is all electrically connected. Now the thing is that when I connect their CAT5 to my lappy, I get the yellow broken head in my connection status and while trying to ping their IP address and to the default gateway, I get a long list of HOST NOT FOUND and REQUEST TIME OUT. The person who came for the installation, checked with his lappy, with the same IP pinging, he got favoulous result. But, when I checked with my old cat cable and connected it to my broadband modem, it is working superfine like it had been mostly. Where could the problem lie?
