I need help with a writing research issue. I have a character who is addicted to oxy, enough so that when she doesnt get her fix, she starts having withdrawal symptoms like coughing, runny nose, agitation. I envision her as a functional addict, so that she needs a fix to feel and appear normal, rather than high. Or at least functional enough to drive her injured sister to the hospital. If you have experience (as a doctor, user or treatment counselor), is it possible for an oxy user to be a functional addict as described above? If you dont have any direct experience with this, dont offer your unsubstantiated opinions or theories. Im looking for facts. Thanks!
