I need to reword a post I just deleted. First of all. I will be leaving the hospital on Monday. Unfortunately due to my insurance not kicking in until April 1st, my wound vac will not be covered. So, I am leaving with wet to dry packing. I am also still running high sugars and have an infection. The hospitalist said those are not reasons to keep me and no matter what, I am leaving. She was very nice about it and explained that the policies are set. The release to home nurse has tried everything. My surgeon has been wonderful and is fighting for me to have what I need when I am released. She explained that if the wound gets re-infected, it could be fatal. Due to its location, there is no guarantee that it wont get infected again, unless I have the wound vac. I saw a very nice Infectious Disease doctor today who explained that the last set of blood cultures that showed something growing might have been accidentally compromised by the blood draw procedure in the E.R. or the handling in the lab because the infection took so long to grow. She was NOT putting any department down, just easing my mind that she is not concerned about the results. The antibiotics I am on are covering that. I understand things can happen and its good to know this is nothing to worry about; trust me, I have enough on my mind as it is. The nice thing is I am in no way contagious. That is super news. I miss teaching my kiddos and I am SO UPSET that I am not with Sonny, my boy right now. I miss him more than anyone knows. That little feathered son of my is amazing. I am going to forget all of the line dances I learned, which really upsets me. Thanks to all of you for the visits, cards, flowers, gifts and well wishes. It means more to me than you know.
