I needed a job back in 2008 because I was a realtor and sales were crashing due to the mortgage crisis. So with six dogs I thought it would be great to find a pet food company to work for. There was an ad for a sales rep for BilJac dog food. I was hired and started promoting BilJac dog food at PetSmart stores. Naturally, I was taught about their kibble product, how it was made and the companys commitment to only purchasing and using premium parts of a chicken vs. dead baby roosters or chicken by products. I fed my dogs this food for about four days and each dog... SIX DOGS... were throwing up yellow bile. I now know that this is from their liver and kidneys and gallbladders. How toxic was that food for it to only take a few days for them to become violently ill, all at the same time? During one weekend at PetSmart, a woman walked up to my demonstration table and politely said: I tried this dog food but my dog kept throwing up yellow bile.... When I was done for the day I contacted the woman who hired me and told her about this woman. In fact, days earlier, when my dogs were vomiting all over the house I actually had to call her because I was going to be late for my designated time slot cleaning up an entire house of yellow bile. After alerting her about that woman, she fired me and showed up at my house to immediately remove all of my sample products. She wasnt rude or mean about it but extremely nervous when she drove up to my home to retrieve the products. I confronted her and asked if other people were complaining but she couldnt look me in the eye and just remarked that it was best I didnt continued with the company. Right then and there, we started making our dogs food but it was so time consuming and expensive so we thought if we tried better quality foods we couldnt go wrong. We fed Orijens, Acana, and every food claiming to be holistic, natural, balanced. My dog Buster continued to vomit, eat dirt, didnt greet us at the door, had no energy but when I fed him real food, real beef with white rice, veggies, fruits the vomiting stopped. He loved kibble, crunchy hard foods sprayed with chicken fat, and we gave him little bits as treats but he vomited and our other dogs vomited, and they had horrible problems with their anal glands and losing hair,fur, itching and the list goes on. Just giving little bits was enough to keep the disaster going. In 2010, we cut out all commercial dog products, all chicken and turkey products and never looked back. Within weeks, our Buster, who could stay up all night long licking his anal glands stopped and finally slept through the night. Then I expressed his glands, because I had to learn how to do this because it was chronic, and there was hardly an odor even though there was liquid expressed. It all made sense and then we never had to ever express his glands again. In fact, none of our six dogs ever had anymore anal gland problems. None of them itched, had fleas, never lost fur, hair, no bad breath, no hot spots and not a one of them is overweight but best of all Buster stopped having the newly acquired Gran Mal seizures. However, the damage from years of commercial dog food did take its toll on Buster and like the same for the two dogs we took in from the streets in 2008. Yet, Buster lived a long life with the damage because we radically changed what we put into his little body and we took a chance on the herbs from Five Leaf Pet Pharmacy, and just relied on food, real, organic food and more than just meat and yes grains, carbs, etc. Please, please, please before you resort to more and more chemicals and powders and meds, try what has worked for many dogs with canine kidney disease. Your dog can benefit from a holistic approach and you can learn a lot about what to do for them by remembering what your college biology class taught you about biomagnification, toxins, viruses, how our bodies use potassium and sodium, vitamins and minerals. There is a ton of research out there, online, from many universities regarding how dogs livers and kidneys, hearts, muscles and brains function. So with that said... I hope your dogs will live a long life with you because animals are such a joy and there is nothing better than positive results from your efforts to get them well. Have the courage to listen to what others have done, especially if what theyve done has stopped the progression of canine kidney disease for their dogs.
