I offer myself as a Deltan who is concerned about the widespread - TopicsExpress

I offer myself as a Deltan who is concerned about the widespread unemployment that is destroying the very fabric of our society. Marriages are failing and weakening our families. We are all living in perpetual fear and have barricaded ourselves in mini prisons we call homes. We cant go out to jog when we know that we need jogging for healthy living. Our youths are roaming the streets looking for the so called leaders to settle them so they can have the next meal. Our mothers are toiling day and night just to ensure there is something for the children to eat at the end of the day. Our graduates who are considered lucky are doing underpaid jobs. We even have cases where first degree holders are working with school certificates because these are the jobs they could get. It will be criminal of me to look the other way when I know I can do something about these problems especially when those who have entered the race before me seem not to recognise the pressing need to tackle the problem of unemployment which holds the key to resolving all our other problems. I am not saying others are not qualified or do not have good intentions. Far from that. They are all good men and women who mean well for our state. But I can do a better job to build on the foundation which Governor Uduaghan has laid in the past 7 years in the areas of infrastructural and human capital development and security. I am proud of his record. But there is still much to be done to realise the Delta state of our collective dream. Like most Deltans, I dream of a Delta state where those who want to work will find appropriate jobs and those who want to set up businesses can do so without bothering about the infrastructure that will make them succeed. I dream of a Delta state where our youths can look at us with hope and we see them as worthy future leaders. I dream of a Delta state where our tomorrow will always be better than our today and our today better than yesterday. I dream of a Delta state where, where you come from and the language you speak do not matter. I dream of a Delta State where the interest of all is paramount and not those of the few. I dream of a Delta State where you do not have to know the so called big man before you get what you deserve. I dream of Delta state of equal opportunity and no discrimination. I believe that, through collaborative and inclusive efforts, all of us working together as a statewide team can make this dream a reality in our lifetime.
