I often say that everything I know about the Bible came from reading annotated Thomas Hardy, whose works protest such faith as much as supporting it. One is often taught that he included scriptural references that were recognizable to his readers, but as was with the inclusion of scientific theories, he was structuring their meanings from a position of doubt. I thought about the next card from Max Gate, the showpiece Hardy built himself, as an exploration of his texts through his architectural training. This is not a complete intention, yet.
