I promised my good friend Dennis some news today, so here it is: My West Bend High School Drumline is officially the Milwaukee Bucks (yes, THOSE Milwaukee Bucks!) Junior Beats Drumline! Yes folks, you heard it right! The Bucks sought me out, I met with them in their corporate offices in the Bradley Center, we discussed some terms and conditions, I ran it past my section leaders and then confirmed it with the rest of the drumline yesterday. :-) Well play about once a month for home games on Saturday nights. Well play in two concourses (well split the line) pregame, on the court at halftime, at quarters and in the atrium post-game. Heres the really awesome part: We are the *very first* in the NBA to be a high school drumline contracted and branded under a professional basketball team; WBHS drumline is pioneering this. The Bucks are paying for our busing and feeding the kids when they perform. The kids will have access to locker rooms and will get two tickets to each game they perform at. The Bucks will outfit the kids down to their shoes for each performance. The Bucks will also purchase an entirely new line for us, to our specifications, so that we dont have to use the schools equipment for their purposes. I dont know if we maintain ownership of it after the season or not, but... So, thats the news! Congratulations to David Muencheberg, our drumline instructor who has REALLY taken our drumline to the level that it is now, and congratulations to all of our former section leaders who really pushed our line to meet the standards of Excellence With Pride. This honor is built on performance legacy and it all started with them. And, of course, we must also give lots of credit to the man who created the vision at the beginning, and cultivated the foundation: H Robert Dittmer--you also own this in a BIG way! :-)
