I read an article today that pin pointed Portland as the most racist city in the country. How is this possible you ask? Especially with so many bleeding hearts around the city wanting to help every soul regardless of who or how the money is made to do so... Because equality! (Insert my own political eye roll... but thats not my soap box here today) The sentence that stuck out to me today was this: They [Portlanders] hate themselves for being white, yet think so lowly of African Americans that they assume they need their heroic help. If we reach down inside our white selves, is it possible somewhere inside us are we thinking this? I can think of quite a few people I know who take up the cause of helping African American people... helping them. Why are they a them? Why are they anything but part of America? Yes, I can agree that in a way black Americans do group themselves because they are proud of their heritage, their culture, their differences... but is that so different from the Irish? Or the Italians? Making our black citizens your cause is weakening them more than helping them, its actually making them into someone that needs you. This liberal agenda of saving the black minority is encouraging racism. Get over yourself. They dont need you, as theyre not a they. Theyre every bit a part of us.
