I really enjoy artwork of these two. Anyone passionate about psychology would enjoy them about as much as they would enjoy Frida Kahlo (JUST LOOK A THEM, COLOR INVERT THEM TOO!) Satori Komeiji (Top right), whos given name is the same name as her species, satori, which can be translated as enlightenment or conscious depending on how you write it. In the Touhou Project, a satori has an external heart that has a third eye on it. This eye allows theme to read the minds of those around it. With such an unsettling ability, any dark secrets one may hide aside, makes conversation a little awkward. Of the variety of detestable yokai banished underground, the satori are by far the most hated, even among the others hated yokai. Satori and her sisters surname mean Ancient bright earth. While hated by other linguistic beings, Satori is loved by the many hundreds of animals that have inhabited The Palace of the Earth Spirits, which is right above what WAS Hell until the Enma/Yama changed locations. Satoris job here is to inhibit the begrudged evil spirits that remain from breaking loose and causing havoc on the surface world. Koishi Komeiji (Bottom Left), whos given name can mean Feelings of Love or Small Stone depending on its writing. Koishi, unlike her sister, couldnt just accept and embrace the loneliness that she must bear as a satori, so she sealed her third eye, effectively closing off her heart (and mind) as well. She cant read minds anymore, and nobody can read hers, not even her sister, as she has lost all consciousness ... probably. Id say its about as complicated as cancer, she still walks and talks and goes places, but not even she knows where shes going, and if there was any way to describe speech in a conversation, her words are chosen immediately like a beam of light hitting a mirror. Koishis newly gained ability, the manipulation of the subconscious/unconscious, allows her to be effectively invisible to other people. This isnt optic camouflage, this is the kind of invisibility one experiences when a small object is in a clearly visible spot yet we for some reason cant see it. Out of sight, out of mind as they say. She can also induce one into a dream-like state before they even realize it. Even if one could see her, she emits no presence at all, despite her PROBABLY cheerful expression. Once out of sight, you will forget you were ever talking to her or that she even existed, unless you have knowledge of her from her sister or others that knew her before her eye was closed. Satori Komeiji is a garden without a rose, Koishi Komeiji is a rose without a garden.
