I really need some help..I have 2 dogs that are in need..the first one is MAYA...some of you may remember her from a year ago..she was tied to the mailbox of animal control and her (9) 3 week old puppies were placed in a cardboard box beside her...luckily they made it through the night. .it was extremely rural. .anyway..I took them in..and within 3 days Maya became horribly sick. .I got her to the vet and they informed me that she was high patvo positive. This was very unusual because Maya was 2 years old and Parvo usually attacks 1 year and under...Anyway, they suggested humanely euthanizing because she was too far gone..I simply was having no part of that..so $2k later..she made it through..after a couple of weeks she went to my friends in-laws to recuperate. .she had to stay away from other animals because she was still shedding the virus. (THANKFULLY her puppies never broke with the virus..which was a miracle in and of itself) Maya unfortunately escaped out of the yard and went missing for a day ... she was found by the in-laws neighbor. .when we told them the story they said they wanted to keep her..my friend went over and met them and thought they were very nice..they home schooled their kids and seemed very hippy-ish... so we decided to let them adopt her...well about a month ago I get a call from them saying that Mayas hunting instincts kicked in and she killed an opossum, and tried to go after their chickens..they also said she was attacking their jack Russell, unprovoked. To my absolute horror the man says do you want me to just put her on Craigs List? I immediately called my lovely friend, Jennifer Hummel , the owner of Ace Pet Resort, and founder of Vintage Paws Rescue. .I then called Andy Sands, owner of Good CitiZEN dog training...I desperately needed their help .. THANKFULLY They both, without hesitation agreed to help me.. The next day I went to pick up Maya. .When I knocked on the door a young girl answered..I said I was there to pick up Maya. .she said..just a minute walked outside and retrieved Maya from a tree she was tied to..she walked her over to me and handed me the leash without one shred of emotion and turned and walked away..Maya was emaciated and smelled horrible. .I got in my car and just cried my eyes out....Hippies my ass..more like the Dave Koresh compound..I drove her straight to Ace and Jen was there to check her in..she was covered in fleas and had a wound on her ear..Andy came to assess her and found that not only was she NOT dog aggressive, but she had behavior demonstrating that she was tied up on a regular basis..this confirmed my worst fear..Maya is now with a foster, but unfortunately, its not really working because she has a cat..and Maya isnt particularly fond of cats. .I need someone to take this beautiful girl that has been through hell and back...and give her the love she deserves..she needs room to run and play and enjoy her life ..she can be with other dogs..please help me share her story and get her to a new safe, loving home.. thank you!!!!
