I received a post from my Niece that I want to share with everyone. We live in a society today that is a very busy one, I get that, but we have to make time, somehow, someway for our loved ones who need us! When it comes to being an advocate for Alzheimer’s disease, I’m just a small fish in a huge ocean, but if we had more small fish, we can make a big difference in the Healthcare industry. I walk, talk, share information, and encourage donations. Maybe someday God willing I can be a large part of the fund raising efforts as well. We do have many wonderful caregivers in healthcare who will and do treat our loved ones like their own family, but unfortunately there are bad ones too and what you see in this video. happens all the time. We only know about some of it because yes, many residents are unable to tell others that they are being abused or are too afraid too. There is more progress in finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and it will eventually be found however, while we wait, our loved ones should be treated properly, with love and without abuse. We also need to fight for laws to have video cameras in each patient’s rooms!!! This is one of the reasons besides my love for them that I routinely checked on my Mother and her husband Merle. There was not a day that went by that I was either at the facility or called to make sure all was well. I made sure too that my visits were also spontaneous at times and let me tell you, I was one daughter that they all knew was going to be popping in. This may be your situation right now or not and God forbid I don’t wish this on anyone but if your loved one has to be in skilled nursing, you have to: check on them, check on them, check on them!!!!!!! God bless you all
