I remember my first Miss Florida Pageant back in 1978 .I had just moved to Tampa from Cleveland Ohio. I was so glad to escape from all that cold weather.I was hired as the show director for a new club called RJs RENDEZVOUS owned by a wonderful man,Ray Jennings .I represented the club at Miss Florida that year and I was not prepared for just how grand and fabulous the whole thing was. And then came the moment that would change my life and career forever. Tiffany Andretta Aireagus came to me with a proposition I couldnt refuse. Tiffany of course was show director at what was to be known as the Mecca of all things drag..RENES DISCO-THEATER.She was going to be taking a leave as show director to travel all over the country with her Miss Florida Concert and she had suggested to the Lord God of drag,Rene Rodriquez that I would be a good choice to take over.And the rest is history.Under the guidance of Rene I was 2nd runner up to Miss Florida 1979 and won the next year 1980. For 33 years after that I was lead M.C. for the pageant and choreographed many of the opening production numbers. Those are memories I will never forget.Now Im looking forward to making some new memories. The Pageant under executive producer Alyson Thomas I feel will once again rise to take its rightful place as one of the premier pageants in the country and once regain its glory as THE SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR I am honored to walk that runway one more time
