I shot this short video to demonstrate ways you can get off a fast attack while minimizing telegraphing motions. If you are faced with an attacker clearly intent on doing you harm, hitting him hard and fast may be your best, justifiable option. The faster your execution, the more likely you are to take your assailant by surprise and successfully defend yourself. Now I have to admit that after filming myself (using my patented spare all expense production method), I couldnt help but play the video back in slow motion. I wont pretend that I cant get off the line faster, and Ill bet if you look closely you may see tells that would help you see the punch coming. Counting frames Ill note from the instant I start moving to the time of impact takes just under half a second which is actually a lot of time. Getting off a fast punch without giving the game away is hard, and I still have more practice to do. Still, I think the suggestions I make can help improve your speed and are worth trying out. Practice in front of a mirror or get a friend to video you. See how fast and sneaky you can be.
