I spent some time on tumblr today and noticed a lot of posts about Ferguson. Most of them criticized privileged white people on their ignorance of suffrage for blacks and how non black people (minorities) cannot speak because their experiences with racism apparently do not compete with those of the black community. All I have to say is that I think the first step to ending racism is to stop separating ourselves from each other. “Black community” or “white community”, we are all humans and as long as we continue to group ourselves like this, we will never get anywhere with this problem of racism. So stop using terms like “black”, “white” and especially “non black people”. You are just furthering the promotion of segregation, you are separating yourself from others and allowing other to separate yourself from them. In order to end racism, you have to start with yourself and what you can do to break down the walls of skin color embedded in your mind. Do not look at a man and see him as black or white, but see him as a man. Nip the bud, I think the term is?
