I start this thread to invite the Indian gliding enthusiasts to reflect on what happened to Indian Gliding Movement. Where did it go wrong? What ails gliding? Can it be revived? What would be needed to get it going again? At this moment we are only left with memories that are fading fast. Are we happy to only recount the good times of the past gone by? Is there any hope? My generation was lucky. We got introduced to gliding just out of school. Generous subsidies helped us learn. It also made us dependent on the government largesse. Is it time for us return a favour to gliding in India so that future generations are not deprived of the wonderful sport? How do we carry on the legacy of people like Capt Wason, who gave their entire life to gliding? I dont recall him taking even one holiday for all the years that I glided out of Delhi! Even when I glide around at Lasham or other great places, I know that I am able to do so because I got an opportunity to glide early in my life in India.
