I started blogging in January of 2010. In our newly discovered life of simplicity, Maile and I decided to try and go a year without watching television, and my new friend Bryan Allain was blogging so why couldnt I? I had no idea how blogging would change my life. Ive met some of my best friends through the blogosphere, some of whom Ive never met in real life. Five years ago I would have told you that sounded really weird. Now? I dont know. I just know I have really good friends Ive never met. The blog put me in contact with people who took me on trips around the world, to Istanbul and Sri Lanka, and introduced me to people with incredible stories. This Kickstarter campaign, which was successfully funded at 8:34pm this evening, seems like a monumental step that you all have taken with me. Its a huge marker in the timeline of my writing life. Some of you have been reading along with me through a lot of crap, a lot of good times, a lot of unexpected times. You came along when we moved home from Leesburg with nothing but 50,000 in debt; you came along on our cross-country trip, walked beside us through the miscarriage, congratulated us when Leo arrived, and kept me smiling while I was in the hospital this past summer. For someone who spends most days cooped up in a very small office, surrounded by a cocoon of books, I feel like I have more friends than any one person deserves. Thank you so much for traveling this journey with me. I really hope you enjoy The Day the Angels Fell.
