I sure hope that j will love this kitten just as how he fell in love with the first kitten which i took him for viewing (the calico one). With the calico kitten; it was the first time ever i have seen him so gentle and mellow which is a character that i have never seen emerge ever since his hamster died. With his hamsters, fish, lobsters and prawns kept when j was younger; he learned compassion and responsibility but with each passing away at end of life span; it hardened him til to the extent at the last death of his fighting fish this year; he took delight in its passing. It was a wrong lesson taken away from taking care of animals with short life spans. Yes it taught him to deal with loss at a young age but it also taught him to be cruel. When the news came that auntie did not want to foster the calico kitten afterall, j ws devasted and with it came the biggest temper tantrum that i have ever seen. He was still dreaming of that kitten when we were cleaning up the cage last night and was still saying that first the black cat come; then my white cat will come. I must admit that i had my reservations too. Like what the fosterer said; many had predijuces against black cats and they are hard to foster. However; after an hour of interaction; all reservations went away. Colour is just skin deep and with time; my greatest wish for j is to see beyond its skin / fur colour. This kitten is a feisty and independent fellow. A trait normal of kitties. At the same time; he listens. As in really follow instructions. When i told it to eat; it eats. When i told her that place is for his business he went to sniff. And when i talk to it; she had a conversation with me. I would believe that i would never have achieved that with the calico kitten as she was too timid and well different from the kittens and cats that i had interactions with before. And i wish tonight that j will see beyond whats skin deep and within. Outer beauty fades; inner beauty remains.
